Sneakers Release: Under Armour “Super Soaker” White/Blue Curry 7

Dec 23, 2019

In March 1988, basketball legend Stephen Curry entered the world. A year later, one of the greatest toys of all time hit the market — the Super Soaker, an oversized, futuristic-looking water gun.

This December, pick up a pair of “Super Soaker” Under Armour Curry 7s colored in a cheerful palette of White/Blue, accented by Orange and Green embellishments reminiscent of the Nerf toy. Grab this shoe in men’s, preschool and grade-school kids’ sizes at Hibbett| City Gear on December 27.

While the “Baby-Faced Assassin” shows up with his game face on, Curry provides glimpses of his playful side off the court, whether he’s crashing house parties, mugging for the camera or subtly poking fun at Michael Jordan. The colorful kids’ and men’s “Super Soaker” basketball shoes pay tribute to the fun-loving Warriors point guard’s inner child.

Translucent mesh layers, TPU skin and synthetic leather combine for a flexible, foot-hugging upper in these Under Armour Curry shoes. The layers impart a sleek, modern spin on the shoe’s aesthetic while strategically enhancing the wearer’s mobility. Perforated holes around the lacing system and tongue add game-winning breathability to the basketball shoe, and foam padding enhances comfort at the heel and collar.

Known for his innate ability to deliver the ball where it needs to go, Steph Curry relies on expertly engineered underfoot hardware for his agility. Under Armour designer Leon Gu teamed up with Curry to create the player’s seventh signature basketball sneaker with reinforced traction and superior responsiveness in mind.

Gu delivered with a lightweight, energy-returning cushioning system. He took Under Armour HOVR technology — a soft, lightweight foam — wrapped it in webbing and encased it in rubber. Micro G foam in the forefoot keeps the player closer to the court, while a flexible plate stabilizes the foot.

The shoe’s decoupled heel counter helps with impact reduction, so Curry can achieve lift-off … and a soft landing. The basketball shoe’s low-to-the-ground feel offers players of all stripes complete control, while the rubber outsole’s herringbone pattern uses varying heights to enhance zonal traction.
