Despite its general disarray, the year 2020 brought with it many exciting firsts for the country, specifically in the world of science. One such first was the debut mission for NASA’s SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, which successfully transported four astronauts to the International Space Station.

Inspired by the vastness of the final frontier and the world’s re-ignited interest in space exploration, the newest women’s, preschool and infant girls’-exclusive Air Jordan 1 High OG “Silver Toe” launches into the sneakersphere on Friday, February 19.

Much like the way NASA programs rely on the technology of early pioneers to propel the space program into the future, the Jordan Brand takes original designs and slightly retools them for modern comfort.

The Jordan 1 “Silver Toe” colorway includes the same clean lines and heritage approach to quality craftsmanship as the OG Jordan 1 did in 1985. White full-grain leather covers the shoe’s sides, abbreviated by a black Swoosh fearlessly swooping across the blank backdrop. Black leather overlays outline the toe, crawl the lacing system and encircle the ankle, providing both bold colorblocking and bolstered stability to the upper. A white foam midsole offers a clean base rife with possibilities (and comfort), while the black outsole helps propel girls and women of all ages forward towards their futures.

The Retro Jordan’s Metallic Silver heel and ankle pieces glimmer in the right light, providing an eloquent counterbalance to an otherwise straightforward sneaker palette. The perforated toe box also comes in a lunar-like silver, while black laces climb up toward the Nike Air tongue tag and play off the Air Jordan Wings logo.
