While Nike designed its Flyknit technology to take sneaker uppers to a whole new level, the legendary brand’s new and cutting-edge Joyride cushioning platform is revolutionizing the women’s running shoe game the same way Air and React did. These running shoes are the most recent release from the Joyride collection. Check out some of the new shoes in the Black and Pink Blast colorway.

Joyride technology gives wearers a personalized underfoot experience and offers optimal absorption within a light, energy-returning package. The results are fresher legs and longer runs. The Nike exclusive, proprietary cushioning system is made up of thousands of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) beads that sit within zonally-tuned pods. The pods provide space for the foam to expand in all directions and create a personalized footbed to provide the smoothest ride possible.

Nike tried out 150 materials before selecting TPE for the beads used in the pods. The pods also come with a distinctive design that keeps the beads from moving too much around the foot. According to Nike, their designers were able to create a zonal tuning for each respective iteration of Nike Joyride.

Flyknit has become Nike’s go-to material for a wide range of their shoe categories — especially their running shoes. Nike has also continued to improve its marquee technology by revamping the shoes to provide improved support, enhanced flexibility and more breathability than ever.
