With Steph Curry and several other Golden State players injured, this weekend’s NBA All-Star game will be the first in eight years not to feature a Warriors player. While Curry continues to recover from a hand injury he received at the start of the season, it hasn’t stopped the Golden State star from continuing to drop new editions of his seventh iteration of the Under Armour Curry basketball shoe.
And while Curry won’t be making an appearance at this year’s NBA All-Star game, his latest Curry 7s will be released just in time for All-Star weekend. On February 14, the Under Armour Curry 7 drops in an “Underrated Tour” Cordova, black and Beta colorway. Launching in grade school boys’ and men’s sizes, this shoe was inspired by pro-basketball players who are fighting their best fight to meet their full career potential.
Fittingly, the Curry 7 “Underrated Tour” colorway will serve as the official basketball shoe for the second annual Steph Curry Underrated Tour.
The competition and talent scouting-style tour is slated to make four stops throughout the country between February and March. At each stop, talented student-athletes will be chosen to play for a spot in Curry’s Under Armour Select Camp.
When Under Armour’s Leon Gu created the Curry 7, he had Steph’s personal performance goals in mind — focus, control and agility. The shoe’s sleek silhouette reflects Gu’s commitment to Curry’s game from the ground up. The rubber outsole includes a radial traction pattern or layered herringbone in varying heights. This pattern gives players optimal grip on the hardcourt and sneakerheads a little more dimension to their soles.
A decoupled heel and Flexplate contribute to foot stability and support. Under Armour’s HOVR technology works in tandem with Micro G cushioning, providing wearers with optimal energy return and all-day comfort.
The upper of this super-responsive basketball sneaker is comprised of a multi-layer of breathable materials like synthetic leather and mesh. Strategically placed TPU skins reinforce the shoe’s zonal areas to boost foot stability, and foam padding comes into play at the collar and heel of the men’s sneaker for additional comfort where it counts.
Steph Curry’s Cordova, black and Beta “Underrated Tour” Curry 7 wasn’t designed for basketball royalty. This slick-looking and performance-tech-packed basketball shoe is for the everyday man or boy. This February 14, shop in-stores or online at Hibbett | City Gear for these All-Star Weekend kicks.
