The Jordan 11 Retro Low “Cement Grey” shoe drops in men’s, grade school, preschool and toddler sizes April 1 at Hibbett | City Gear.
A shoe inspired by tuxedos might not sound like a good fit for Michael Jordan, but the Air Jordan 11 proved that wrong. The Tinker Hatfield design, built around MJ’s request for a “shiny shoe,” was an instant hit when it dropped in 1995 in the middle of His Airness’ championship-winning season.
Now, it’s time for a retro remix of this classic. The AJ 11 Low “Cement Grey” uses hearty doses of Cement Grey, University Blue and white to craft a shoe reminiscent of previous “Cool Grey” and “Columbia” colorways. It drops in full family sizing for men, grade school kids, preschool kids and toddler kids on April 1.
The iconic Cement Grey shiny patent leather mudguard surrounds the perimeter of the shoe, crawling up the vamp and heel. Its shininess makes the textured white midsole look dull in comparison.
The rest of the upper is a lighter gray jacquard mesh that offers additional visual contrast. It’s covered with five white stripes on each side that stretch from holding the white laces in place down to the top of the mudguard.
You’ll see a darker gray strip of Jordan branding in the middle of the tongue, which leaves the usual branding spot on the top bare. Light gray ankle padding surrounds the collar, and the blue insole features a white Jumpman. There’s also a tiny University Blue Jumpman on the heel sitting on a patch of white leather.
An icy University Blue outsole features ribbed tread patterns. It’s transparent, so it lets a white Jumpman peek through on the bottom, as well as a blue and black checkered pattern. With the lower cut of this AJ 11, we think it’d look best with skinny jeans or tapered joggers and a T-shirt. Consider dark wash or black pants and a gray shirt to keep your colors in alignment.
Who knew gray could be so interesting? The AJ 11 Low “Cement Grey” is very monochromatic but in all the best ways. Add it to your collection starting April 1, when you can score it in men’s, grade school kids’, preschool kids’ and toddler kids’ sizes online or at your local Hibbett | City Gear.If you’re late to the party, all is not lost. There are plenty of Jordan 11 styles dropping every month. Don’t miss another release again when you follow our sneaker launch calendar.
