Nike Zoom Freak 4 “Alphabet Bro” Men’s Basketball Shoe Launching 4/1

When NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo was younger, people had trouble spelling his name, earning him the moniker “Alphabet Soup.” Today, he’s embraced the fact his last name looks like a cat fell asleep on the keyboard with a new colorway of his signature shoe, the Zoom Freak 4.

The Zoom Freak 4 “Letter Bro” comes in shades of Pale Vanilla, Blue Lightning and Coral Chalk. This isn’t the first “Letter Bro” colorway we’ve seen. The Milwaukee Bucks power forward dropped another alphabet-themed colorway last fall, though this iteration was much more muted in brown, gray and orange tones. This new, more colorful variant is arriving in men’s sizes just in time to celebrate spring on April 1.

This kick’s engineered mesh upper is mostly Pale Vanilla, but repeating across its entire surface are Coral Chalk and pale red letters. The random repetition of the letters of Giannis’ last name really looks just like alphabet soup.

Pale yellow translucent overlays drape across the medial toe and vamp, outlining the toe box. This leads to the pale pink laces and mesh tongue. The laces strap into shiny red grommets at the ankle.

Blue Lightning Giannis tongue branding lets everyone know whose shoe you’re wearing. The pale pink ankle collar gives way to a pale yellow insole with more blue branding. There’s also blue embroidered branding at the yellow heel—reading “Freak” on the left shoe and displaying a Giannis logo on the right.

The other big accent of this shoe is the oversized reverse blue Swoosh that juts up from the midsole across the lateral middle. It’s outlined in yellow that connects back to the midsole itself. On the heel, the midsole features The Greek Freak’s signature on the left shoe. The Blue Lightning outsole features the names of Giannis’ biggest supports embedded in the tread.

In all of its pastel glory, this pair of basketball kicks is just what you need to look fresh this spring. Lace them up with crisp white crew socks and a pair of pale green joggers to really embrace the changing of the seasons.

The Zoom Freak 4 “Letter Bro” is a reminder that you’re not alone if you have to Google how to spell Giannis’ name on a regular basis.
