Sneakers Release – AJ 6 Retro “Electric Green” Men’s & Kids’ Colorway Out 6/5

The Air Jordan 6 will always have a special place in history. It was the shoe Michael Jordan was wearing during his first NBA championship in 1991, earning it a well-deserved seat in the footwear hall of fame. That’s probably why it’s been retroed so many times since its first rebirth in 2000. And now it’s turning the big 3-0.

There’s only one way to celebrate such an iconic silhouette, and that’s by giving it a makeover. The new Jordan 6 Retro “Electric Green” black and Electric Green colorway is sure to add a little spark to your sneaker game. It drops on June 5 in men’s, grade school kids’, preschool and toddler sizes.

This Jordan Retro is reminiscent of the OG model with a mostly black nubuck upper. These dark tones make the brilliant touches of Electric Green along the midsole, heel collar, lace toggle and tongue logo pop even more.

You might be thinking this shoe looks familiar. And it is, to an extent. We’ve seen this same color palette before on the Jordan 6 “Oregon Ducks” colorway that dropped back in 2018 exclusively for players on the college basketball team. The main difference is that the new colorway doesn’t have Oregon branding and instead has the traditional Jumpman logo on the heel, tongue, insole and outsole.

Speaking of the outsole, it glows in the dark. That’s right — the milky, translucent rubber lets you take your game into the evening hours. It’s perfect for those days where you and the kids want to keep playing as the sun goes down.

And if your game goes into overtime, you’ll have the support you need to keep going. A foam midsole with a visible Air-Sole unit in the heel and encapsulated Air-Sole unit in the forefoot provides heaps of cushioning.

Designer Tinker Hatfield made sure to include this cushioning, as well as a clean toe with reinforcements, a request from His Airness himself. Another request from MJ that Hatfield added into the design? The molded structure on the back, specifically designed so the heel tab doesn’t rub on the Achilles tendon.
