Sneakers Release – Charlotte Hornets-Inspired Jordan 13 Retro”Obsidian” Out 9/18

Michael Jordan always goes big, whether it’s spectacular dunks, game-winning shots, generation-spanning sneakers or becoming the first former NBA player to become the majority owner of a basketball team. The latter was the case in 2010 when His Airness acquired the Charlotte Hornets and now, more than a decade later, the Jumpman’s Air Jordan 13 is releasing a Hornets-inspired colorway.

On September 18, the Air Jordan 13 Retro “Obsidian” launches in toddler, preschool, grade school kids’ and men’s sizes.

Broad swaths of tumbled white leather overlay the shoe’s sides, punctuated by a series of circular stitches. The center of the sneaker, from toe to tongue, gets treated in a deep Obsidian tone, which plays out against a supple leather backdrop. The Jordan name rests at the bottom of the lacing system, and a Powder Blue Jumpman rests on the tongue. Round laces of the same Obsidian tone weave throughout the shoe’s concealed eyestays.

The lateral side of the sneaker’s holographic “eye” will turn heads, while the paw-like, white-textured pods playing along the midsole give this sneaker a prowling, feline-like appearance.

At the heel of the shoe, asymmetrical white overlays curve in artful fashion, their crispness tying in nicely with the plush white sockliner and offsetting the silhouette’s Obsidian suede. A Powder Blue outsole places the white herringbone pattern at strategic forefoot and heel points amid Obsidian-toned rubber. An icy blue emblem with a black Jumpman mimics the holographic badge on the outside of the shoe.
