The Hoka Mach 5 “Black/White” men’s and women’s running shoe drops June 15 at Hibbett | City Gear.
Since 2009, Hoka has been a surprise entry in the world of running shoes. Founders Nicolas Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diard have produced hit after hit with their philosophy of “maximalist” designs that feature cushioning to the extreme. And it looks like that trend will continue with the drop of the new Mach 5 line.
The shoe features horizontal stripes running across the shoe, along with a creel mesh upper. Both of these details are likely to be the same for the men, at least in this initial release.
Another important detail is the Hoka branding. The Hoka logo is big and bold across the lateral middle of the shoe. On the medial middle, there’s actually no branding—but there is a Hoka bird flying across the ankle.
Underneath all of this is the PROFLY+ midsole, which offers superior cushioning to help your feet feel like they’re riding on a cloud. Each step will feel springy and full of energy, which could come in handy when you’re just about out of steam at the end of a race. Beneath that, an outsole offers traction fit for both the track or the streets.
Touted as everyday running shoes, the Mach series is great to wear both when you’re training and during race day. We imagine it’d look fresh with your favorite running shorts and T-shirt or tank. Or, if the weather is a bit chilly, throw them on with joggers and a hoodie to keep yourself warm.
Even though details are lacking on the Hoka Mach 5, we’re still extremely excited to see this running shoe hit stores. It’s dropping on June 15 in men’s and women’s sizes, online and at your local Hibbett | City Gear.
