The Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Brotherhood” University Gold/Light Bordeaux/White shoe drops in men’s and grade school kids’ sizes February 24 at Hibbett | City Gear.
While Michael Jordan was scoring baskets for the University of North Carolina, he also found time to join the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. This is the first fraternity founded at a historically black university.
Now, he’ll be celebrating Omega Psi Phi with a new colorway of one of his most beloved basketball shoes. This retro shoe comes in a University Gold, Light Bordeaux and white scheme, which are the primary colors of Omega Psi Phi. White leather side panels cover the middle, along with a mostly white tongue and midsole. Light Bordeaux overlays outline the toebox and cover the ankle and eyestays. You’ll also see the tell-tale Swoosh in Light Bordeaux, as well as the original Air Jordan logo at the ankle and Nike Air logo on the tongue.
The third color here is University Gold, which you’ll see at the toebox, outer collar, heel cup and sole. There’s also a yellow tongue tag to help the purple branding pop a little more. Inside the shoe, you’ll see a golden insole complete with purple Nike Air branding.
While promo photos mostly show the pair laced up with matching Light Bordeaux laces, it looks like you’ll also have the option to use University Gold or white laces, depending on your style.
Styling these high-cut shoes means you’ll need a pair of matching Jordan crew socks — maybe even with similar golden accents. Make sure to choose cropped jeans or tapered joggers so you can show off your kicks at every opportunity. Throwing these on with a vintage His Airness jersey is also clutch.
Celebrate MJ’s college days as well as the success of Omega Psi Phi when you snag the Jordan Retro 1 High “Brotherhood” kicks. They’re dropping on February 24 in men’s and grade school kids’ sizes, online and at your local Hibbett | City Gear.
