You know and love the Nike Blazer for its retro hoops style, so why not go bigger in 2022 with an amped-up version of this classic staple? The Nike Blazer Low ’77 Jumbo comes with an oversized Swoosh and deconstructed look befitting the shoe’s larger-than-life history.
The black, white and Volt rendition is perfect for building a capsule wardrobe or if you simply want a fresh pair of lifestyle sneaks to start the new year out on the right foot.
Named after the Portland Trail Blazers, the Blazers were the OG performance basketball shoe from the Swoosh. Over the decades, everyone from fashionistas and sneakerheads to skateboarders co-opted the shoes as theirs, owing to the Blazers’ luxe feel and simple aesthetic.
The Jumbo rendition features a predominantly white leather upper with prominent stitching that gives it a deconstructed look, enhanced by black zigzag embroidering that reinforces the toebox. A soft, sandy-colored suede outlines the toe and dresses the heel, while white laces thread through a neon-Volt tab positioned on the shoe’s throat.
Oversized appointments come in the form of a large black Swoosh adorning both sides of the sneaker and meeting at the heel. Far from the refined Swooshes incorporated into any number of modern-day Nike sneakers, these Swooshes feel original, unfinished and retro — a testament to the rich lineage of these shoes. A large, sans serif “Nike” appears at the heel.
The low-cut kicks also include a deconstructed tongue with its foam interior exposed along the edges. Off-white, textured rubber midsoles and largely traditional Nike branding on the tongue contribute to these shoes’ cool 1970s hoops vibe.
