Sneakers Release – Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Volt Gold” Men’s and Kids’ Basketball Shoe

This Jordan Retro features a vibrant color scheme featuring white, black, Volt and University Gold, and while this model gets its cues from the silhouette of the original Air Jordan 1 High, it offers some fresh takes, too.

Case in point: the inside-out tongue with unfinished seams, which also showcases exposed foam padding. The tongue tag also gets reversed, with the Nike Air portion on the inside and the fine print outward-facing. Eyelet flaps fold back, adding to the deconstructed vibe of the sneaker.

When Peter Moore released this inaugural Air Jordan 1 back in 1985, neither he nor His Airness could ever have imagined the cultural phenomenon these shoes would become … and remain for generations. His secret for a good sneaker: superior materials and quality craftsmanship befitting of an NBA player with his star on the rise.

The shoe’s crisp white, full-grain leather upper gets black overlays that outline the ventilated toe box and climb the eye stays. The Wings and Swoosh logos, along with the outsole and sock liner, also come in black. The Volt tone electrifies the ankle, giving it an eye-catching pop of color, and the University Gold overlay plays along the heel.

Cream-colored laces match the shoe’s midsole and padded tongue. These shoes also incorporate classic details like the black rubber cupsole that provides the same traction that helped Michael Jordan deliver history-making plays during his first NBA season. Flex grooves promote precision on the paint.
