It’s finally here — the Air Jordan 35. An already much-coveted shoe in the Jordan portfolio, this powerhouse sneaker features all the colors of a traditional “Bred” release — black, Fire Red and Metallic Silver. And beginning January 8, Jordan fans can get a pair in grade school boys’ and men’s sizes.
Jordan architect Tate Kuerbis created the AJ 35 for exceptional performance on and off the court. The shoe includes a series of woven mesh textures that line the shoe’s sides, toe and ankle. Flightwire technology along the upper’s sides is a lightweight Flywire rendition that helps with whole-foot stability. A Kurim cage frames out the bottom of that arching Flightwire pattern for additional support.
The basketball shoe’s black mesh gleams with flecks of red, while a black suede overlay frames the toe box and arcs along the lacing system. A holographic embellishment interrupts the black suede arc, giving the shoe a touch of subtle shine.
Black and red laces weave up the shoe’s grid-patterned throat, meeting the oversized platinum tongue with its embroidered red Jumpman insignia and stitched on-tongue tag. The No. 23, created from red horizontal lines, rests at the bottom of the lacing system. The tongue rises high, while the ankle sits significantly lower, offering players enhanced flexibility as they move on the court.
The upper’s tongue design and molding around the ankle look very similar to Tinker Hatfield’s Air Jordan 5 design elements. The Air Jordan 35’s white midsole with black speckling offers the same energy-returning, cushioned comfort players and Jordan fans have come to expect since the Jordan 5’s release three decades ago.
Perhaps the most prominent feature of the AJ 35 is its Eclipse Plate 2.0, which glitters in red and black. Building off the AJ 34’s Eclipse Plate, the Air Jordan 35’s 2.0 splits the midsole higher. On either side of the plate, Zoom Air technology is built right into the forefoot and heel. Both the Zoom and Eclipse Plate technology work synchronously to provide even more responsiveness underfoot.
Visible from the red outsole, the exposed Zoom Air unit in the heel is enhanced with a herringbone traction pattern and easily expands and contracts, providing players with the ability to make quick cuts and effortless jumps.
