A pair of the Virgil Abloh-conceived OFF-WHITE x Air Jordan 4s released in 2020 can set you back nearly a grand, but the Jumpman brand is taking the inspo of that cult-fave colorway for sought-after new releases. Case in point: the women’s-exclusive Air Jordan 4 Retro “Shimmer” palette, launching on September 3. Mark your calendars for this release date because these sneaks will sell out fast!

The “Shimmer” colorway includes earthy, neutral tones like Bronze Eclipse, Orange Quartz and Metallic Silver, along with milky translucent TPU wings and a white midsole. The premise of this Jordan shoe is inclusivity — and each color in the mix celebrates a range of skin tones. The Metallic Silver Jumpman embellishment along the tongue suggests a mirror and the promotion of self-acceptance.

Rather than an off-white look, the AJ 4 Retro “Shimmer” lands in more of a buttery tan burnished leather that will patina nicely over wear and time. That soft-brushed tan tone composes the tongue, lacing system and sides of the shoe, while nuanced overlays in more peachy tones make up the toebox and mudguards. The burnt orange plays along the otherwise white midsole, while fresh white mesh netting cutouts nicely tie in with white laces. You’ll find the metallic Jumpman on the tongue, while another plays out in a nude-colored TPU on the heel.

The Air window shows off the heel-area cushioning, and an encapsulated Air unit lends comfort to the forefoot. Plush white and tan padding lines the inside of the sneaker.
