In the late 1980s, Michael Jordan closed out the 1988–1989 basketball season with one of the most iconic plays of all time. Dubbed “The Shot,” the play, made in game five of the playoffs against the Cleveland Cavaliers, firmly cemented MJ’s legendary status. And on his feet? A pair of Tinker Hatfield-designed Air Jordan 4s.

Like its game-winning track record, the Air Jordan 4 Retro is all about performance, swathed luxuriously in brown with notes of Sail, black, orange and Light Smoke Grey. Layers of brown ballistic mesh compose the upper, exposing the edges of orange underlays.
Dark brown mesh panel cutouts mimic the exposed mesh of the shoe’s throat. Brown laces thread through grey eyestays climbing to the shoe’s tongue, where an orange Jumpman logo is fixed.
Light Smoke Grey partially composes the midsole, with orange peeking up from the outsole along the toe. The balance of the midsole comes in Sail and frames out the visible Air unit in the heel. Black TPU heel tabs take on a grey 3D Jumpman logo, reaching up toward the Sail-colored sockliner.
A series of hexagonal flex grooves characterize the rubber outsole, mixing the brown, orange, Sail, gray and black while offering exceptional traction.
