Houston Rockets’ star Russell Westbrook has racked up plenty of All-Star and MVP accolades. He also gets well-deserved press for his signature sneaker line. Earlier this year, the Jordan “Why Not?” Zer0.3 hit the sneaker world, and the brand continues to roll out fresh new colorways.
On April 1, get your hands on a pair of the grade school kids’ and men’s basketball sneakers. The Air Jordan “Why Not?” Zer0.3 debuts in a new white and silver colorway. And while the palette is a slam dunk, so is the performance-enhancing technology packed into Westbrook’s third signature sneaker.
Like its devil-may-care moniker, the “Why Not” comes designed expressly for on-court play. Features like a deconstructed dual-layer upper, along with a forefoot-positioned Zoom Air unit, create a lightweight, foot-stabilizing package. This Air unit curves with the foot’s shape for ultimate responsiveness. A translucent midfoot strap contributes to the locked-down feel, offering any player the control he needs to make those power plays.
Designer David Cin incorporated details like the external size tag, exposed underlayers, plush padded color, clashing, color-shifting materials and jagged lines into the sneaker for a bold aesthetic.
While the design is audacious, so too are the rubber outsole’s features. A cored-out herringbone traction pattern and molded plastic piece that divides the outsole into two parts offer players precision, grip and lightweight flexibility.
