A pixelated mosaic of black, neon pink, Blue Fury and neon green lies just beneath a loosely woven black mesh layer, creating a frenzy of color and texture on the new Nike Kyrie 7 “Pixel Camo” colorway, coming to Hibbett | City Gear infant, preschool and grade school kids’ sizes on February 20.

The “Pixel Camo’s” black composite mesh mellows the upper’s bold pattern, while Metallic Silver TPU “fingers” reinforce the shoe’s sides. These fingers play into the lacing system, but they also pay tribute to Irving’s dad, who encouraged his young son to perform finger-strengthening exercises in his formative years.

Metallic Silver also outlines the Swoosh overlay, embellishes the lacing system’s top eyestays and appears on the Kyrie logo at the tongue. A subtle All-Seeing Eye logo at the bottom of the lacing system and the embroidered Irving logo at the heel are also stitched in Metallic Silver.

Weightlessness and speed were two of the goals Nike basketball shoe designer Benjamin Nethongkome set out to achieve when he was creating the seventh iteration of Kyrie Irving’s signature shoes. Internally, a black Zoom Turbo unit in the forefoot offers wearers best-in-class energy return and shock absorption while externally, the black midsole meets the sneaker’s Light Smoke Grey outsole, which runs along the sidewalls in a zigzag pattern.

The exposed outsole also showcases a 360-degree, data-generated traction pattern that offers precision on the court or during play. Flip the shoe over for more of the grippy rubber outsole lightly speckled with the upper’s colors and a large neon pink Kyrie logo. Other personal details cleverly integrated into the “Pixel Camo” Kyrie 7’s design include the Nets player’s “The legacy is going to live forever” slogan at the heel and Irving’s daughter’s and mother’s names along the toe.
