Streetwear go-to, runway star, skateboarding pro… the Nike Dunk is all three. Since 1985, this Nike court-turned-skate shoe has been a favorite among sneakerheads and this month, the next generation is getting a chance to cop these kicks in a new kids’-exclusive colorway!
Launching online and in-stores on June 10, the “Tropical Twist” Nike Dunk will be available in preschool, toddler and grade school kids’ sizes.
The sneakers feature a classic Dunk Low silhouette with a leather upper, padded collar and tongue and perforations along the toe box. The Light Bone, Tropical Twist, black and white shoe features a mostly Light Bone upper with overlays of black leather. The traditional Swoosh along the middle is in Tropical Twist, while the midsole glows in white.
Nike Dunks provide kids with the support and comfort they need whether they’re at school or the skate park. A cupsole construction cradles their feet, while the full-length rubber sole provides durable traction for gripping a board or park playground.
Believe it or not, the Nike Dunk started out as a college basketball shoe. That’s almost crazy to think about now that it has become synonymous with the skater lifestyle. Initially, designer Peter Moore wanted the shoe to be an evolution from the Air Force 1 that appealed to college sports fans. Hence the OG tagline, “Be True to Your School.”
When your kid dons a pair of Nike Dunk Low shoes, they’ll be joining a lineup of modern style icons — think names like Travis Scott, Virgil Abloh and Kim Jones. Help them achieve their streetwear dreams with the “Tropical Twist” colorway.
