Want a look that really slaps this summer? On June 12, Jordan Brand is serving up a summer brights-inspired Retro colorway that’s bringing the heat. The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Light Fusion Red,” a heady blend of white, Fusion Red, Laser Orange and black, is dropping exclusively in men’s sizes at Hibbett | City Gear.
A crisp white leather base characterizes this AJ 1, with telltale perforations punctuating the toe box. Light Fusion Red outlines the toe and eyestays and dresses the heel, while the Laser Orange color plays out along the Swoosh, tongue tag branding and collar.
The high-cut shoes retain their signature Wings logo, stamped along the sides in black, which matches the black sockliner and outsole. The classic center pivot and flex grooves of the outsole ride beneath a white midsole containing an encapsulated Air-Sole unit for that famous comfort and cutting-edge tech that helped launch Michael Jordan into the stratosphere of basketball icons.
This sneaker initially dropped back in 1985, at the end of Jordan’s inaugural NBA season. Nike worked hard to convince His Airness to even sign with the Swoosh; he wanted to work with Converse. And to sway MJ, the Air Jordan 1 was born. Like its similar-looking counterpart, the Nike Dunks, this Peter Moore-designed sneaker is having a moment in 2021 too.
This particular colorway is a bit of a departure from the more collegiate colors we’ve seen from the AJ 1 thus far this season, and its cheerful tropical tones are a whole summer vibe.
