Paul George can always be counted on for well-positioned passes, quick cuts and effortless pull-up jumpers. His Nike PG 5 basketball shoes can also be counted on to help you play your best and keep you looking good on the go.

The latest colorway in the Paul George lineup takes a more earthy approach than some of his other palettes. May 1 marks the drop of the Nike PG 5 wheat, grain, Metallic Gold and black colorway, which will be available in men’s sizes at Hibbett | City Gear.

These shoes are all about performance, comfort and quickness, hence the lightweight cushioning contained within these PG 5s. The shoes’ Nike Air Dot Weld Strobel cushioning features a series of bubble-wrap-like dots of Air that run the length of the shoe. Stitched directly to the upper, the Strobel cushioning ditches the weight of previous Paul George signature sneaker models, helping players stay light on their feet.

This handsome PG 5 rendition mixes an earthy-brown knit upper with tonal bands that wrap the sides of the foot and through which the bottom part of the laces feed. The bands help lock down and stabilize the foot while contributing to the shoe’s luxe, textural look. Amorphous embroidery adorns the side panels, and a small Swoosh embellishes the medial side of the toe, with zigzag stitching reinforcing the lateral.

A shimmery gold Nike Swoosh lands on the medial side, nicely complementing the gold-toned outsole that gleams underfoot. Sandwiched between the upper and outsole is a crisp white midsole that helps anchor the foot with geometric foam overlays and houses the Strobel system.

The outsole offers a topographic-like traction pattern that follows the form of the foot for on-a-dime pivots, stops and starts. A window into the sole provides a glimpse of the Strobel unit, and Paul George branding is incorporated throughout, including along the tongue tag in dot-like fashion.
