The New Balance 550 men’s shoe drops in three new colorways – Black/White, White/Light Blue and White/Orange – December 1 at Hibbett | City Gear.

Mom jeans, dad shoes, middle parts and a renewed fervor for cultural phenomenons like “Friends” are big right now. Proof, perhaps, that comfort reigns supreme in this pandemic era. As 2021 quickly fades into a new year, now is the time to cop a bit of that dependable style.

Originally making the rounds in 1989, the New Balance 550 is back and better than ever. Initially worn by pro ballers, the modern rendition features simple, clean details. And beginning December 1, the New Balance 550 will drop in sporty styles with collegiate colorways. Look for the white and Syracuse Orange shoe, the white and Carolina Blue edition and a white and black version — each of which comes in men’s sizes.

These solid sneakers pay tribute to the legacy of the ’89 hoops original with solid rubber outsoles, durable leather construction and distinct throwback details.

The predominantly white leather upper characterizes the white and Syracuse Orange rendition. Pocked with a series of tiny holes for ventilation along the toe and forefoot, the leather extends to a white toe cap and double-stitched heel piece. An orange mesh collar, meanwhile, hugs the ankle and extends down to the sockliner.

The tongue also includes a white leather-mesh mashup with a New Balance Basketball nylon tag. An orange “550” appears along the medial-side lacing system, intimating the numbers of a team jersey. A white rubber midsole gives way to the orange, black and white, non-marking outsole, colors which also mirror overlays along the sides of the heel. A white, bubble-letter-like “N” serves as the shoe’s branding and comes outlined in orange leather and radiated stitching.

Both the blue and white UNC edition and the black and white New Balance 550 follow a similar color makeup.
