In July 2019, the NBA summer league shut down for a night after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake that caused the scoreboard to vibrate. That very same evening, there was a seismic shift within the NBA as Kawhi Leonard and Paul George moved to the L.A. Clippers‘ lineup.
On November 11, New Balance is launching a groundbreaking sneaker duo: The Kawhi x New Balance 327 and the New Balance Kawhi signature basketball shoe in “Seismic” colorways, featuring vibrant hits of yellow, orange, blue, red and green. Both sillhouettes will be available in men’s sizes, while the NB Kawhi “Seismic” colorway will also be released in grade school sizes.
Kawhi x New Balance 327
For those seeking a lifestyle shoe full of retro vibes and bold colorblocking, the New Balance 327 hits all the sweet spots. This shoe boldly proclaims its branding with an oversized white N on the lateral sides. The nylon upper comes in a cool light blue on the lateral side and navy on the medial, fringed with pigskin overlays. Red suede outlines the toes and orange outlines the heels, while green, yellow, red and blue reinforce the eye stays.
A white midsole is sandwiched between the upper and an icy blue rubber outsole, studded with a series of circles for traction.
New Balance Kawhi
The “Seismic” New Balance Kawhi’s ankle collar features a red soundwave playing out atop a gridded background while the sneaker’s side panels feature red, orange and yellow ombre waves. A generously sized heel clip helps keep the foot in place and comes accented with a red 3D New Balance logo. An infrared heat map-like outsole features varying patterns for maximum traction.
A white mesh upper with grey mesh accents dresses the shoe, complete with white leather and synthetic overlays that contribute to whole-foot stability. The same primary and secondary tones that appear on the 327 “Seismic” climb this sneaker’s throat and tongue in a bold pattern.
