From video phones to personal drones, “Back to the Future Part II” has predicted quite a few modern-day marvels. So there is no surprise that Marty McFly’s (aka Michael J. Fox) futuristic self-lacing sneakers from the famous 1980s flick have made their way into reality.
Only, today’s self-lacing kicks are a bit different than Marty’s. How? Well, on November 27, Nike is launching a pair of “Triple Black” Auto Adapt sneakers that can connect to your smartwatch and
The concept for this shoe started where many in the Nike Air line began — with the OG Nike running shoe and Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max designs. The Adapt Auto Max shoe, however, diverted from traditional Air Max elements and transformed into a futuristic sneaker that’s sleek, modern and packed to the brim with performance-enhancing technology.
A lightweight, breathable black mesh upper seamlessly contours to the foot for an adaptive fit and custom feel, and is adorned with a shiny black Swoosh. The Auto Adapt’s foot-stabilizing TPU plate extends from the midsole to the heel, while a TPU overlay trims the toe. A low-cut, plush-padded foam collar and memory foam tongue add to the shoe’s overall modern aesthetic. Reflective heel tabs introduce a subtle gleam along the trim.
On the tech front, these shoes come with smartphone and smart watch compatibility. Wearers can use Siri or Google Voice shortcuts to utilize the self-lacing system, customize their fit and control the lights inset into the shoe’s sides.
Marty McFly may have dreamed of these shoes, but Nike made them a reality. Fulfill all your own “Back to the Future” fantasies with these revolutionary “Triple Black” sneakers. Snag this electrifying edition online only on Hibbett.com starting November 27.
