While 2020 may have stalled the sports scene, the sneaker world shows no signs of slowing down. On the heels of Independence Day, Nike is releasing its latest Foamposite colorway “USA” — a star-spangled Blue Void, University Red, Gum Light Brown and white rendition.

Perfect for sparklers in the grass on a warm July evening, or a round of bball with the fam, the Nike Foamposite Pro and Little Posite will come in men’s, infant, toddler, preschool and grade school kids’ sizes.

When Nike’s Eric Avar designed the Foamposite sneakers, he took his inspiration from a beetle — yes, the bug — molding the shoe’s upper into a futuristic, insect-like shell designed for on-court performance. While Avar envisioned Scottie Pippen slipping into these sneaks, it was Penny Hardaway who peeped a pair of the shoes in Avar’s bag and made them his own.

Carefully sculpted, the dark blue Foamposite upper offers lightweight stability while molding to any-size foot. The synthetic material gives way to nubuck suede running across the eyelet overlay and a mesh tongue.

A Phylon midsole contributes to the shoe’s lightweight cushioning, providing plenty of springy energy return in the process. A midsole carbon fiber plate lends both stability and a graphic element to the arch area. Unlike other Nike shoes, the Foamposite Pro and Little Posite Pro let the design speak for itself. A University Red Swoosh stands out along the side, while mini-Swooshes in white play out along the eyestay, heel and sockliner areas.

Max Air units reside at the heel and forefoot, and the light brown rubber gum outsole offers ground-gripping traction. The outsole also extends along the sidewall of the shoe for even more precise stops, starts and pauses.
