Are you ready for the shoe of the future? Because Nike is. They’re kicking things up a notch with the release of the Nike Air Max 2021. Futuristic to the core, this shoe also takes a step forward in sustainability thanks to its 20% recycled materials construction.

While this shoe will come in a few different shades, the one we have our eyes on now is the Ghost/Ashen Slate/Obsidian Mist/Obsidian color combo. It will be available in men’s, toddler, preschool and grade school kids’ sizes starting August 5.

A mix of engineered mesh and woven textile help to revive the traditional Air Max vibe. You may see some similarities in the boot construction to the Air Max Pre-Day, especially in the tapered upper and chunky heel. But the likeness ends there, as the Max 2021 has a plethora of additional features.

Small light gray dots appear on the toe and meld into the rest of the woven gray upper. A traditional navy Swoosh covers the outside middle of the shoe, while the inside middle has a fun surprise: a light blue half-circle patch shows the words “Nike Air Max” so everyone can see just how baller your little one is.

A gray stripe along the lace cage and a dark navy stripe along the heel tab add visual interest. There’s also a gray lace guard that alternates between dark gray grommets and blue lace tabs. A gray mesh tongue offers breathability and style, whether your kid is dominating the playground or just kicking it with friends.

Of course, you can’t overlook the classic Air unit. As usual, you’ll see it in the heel inside the white midsole. See-through panels on both sides and heel show off the lime green inside.

As with any Air Max release, you’ll get the perfect mix of style and function. Your little one will look court-ready, even if they’ve never had the chance to play yet. Just throw these on with basketball shorts and the jersey of their favorite player, and you can’t go wrong.
