Is your little one jealous of your grown-up Kyrie 7s? The seventh iteration in Kyrie Irving’s signature line dropped back in November 2020, and since then, we’ve seen a lot of men’s colorways.

That changes with the release of the Nike Kyrie 7 SE ”Chip” boys’ shoe. Made for toddlers, preschool kids and grade school kids, this colorway was inspired by the Brooklyn Nets star’s childhood nickname. This fun new shoe hits stores on August 7.

The new “Chip” colorway isn’t just a basketball shoe for growing feet — it’s also the introduction for a fun little cartoon character. A cute gray squirrel sits on the tongue with tufted ears and a freckled face. With the laces done up, just Chip’s eyes peek out, giving him a sneaky appearance (much like Uncle Drew on the court). Kids will love showing off this little figure to their friends while sitting on the bench waiting to get into the game. Chip makes one more appearance on the shoe’s dark green insole.

The rest of the shoe is also mostly gray, creating a monochromatic vibe that blends well with a variety of uniform colors and streetwear. A fine white mesh covers the multi-tonal gray upper, allowing the feet to breathe. White security straps attach from the dark gray laces to the midsole at the forefoot, while a white-outlined Swoosh decorates the middle. On the interior of the shoe, there’s a white mesh panel, meaning the Swoosh blends in almost entirely.

The midsole and outsole add even more visual interest with a speckled and swirled appearance. The cushioned white midsole has flecks of gray, while the marbled gray outsole features traction patterns for easy movement on the hardwood. Moving to the heel, you’ll notice a solid gray patch with the classic Kyrie logo embroidered in a lighter gray.
