The Nike Air Speed Turf “White/Team Red/Rush Blue” grade school kids’ shoe drops October 1 at Hibbett | City Gear.

Dan Marino is known for his years as a quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, but sneakerheads may know him better for his relationship with the Nike Air Max Speed Turf. The 1995 release was a big hit, and now it’s returning.

The Nike Air Max Speed Turf in white, Team Red and Rush Blue looks like just the right mix of patriotism. It launches on October 1 in grade school kids’ sizes. The majority of the shoe is made up of a white leather and mesh construction. White leather covers the toe, except for a small peek-a-boo cutout on each side that shows red and blue patches underneath.

Red and blue nubuck leather overlays cover the rest of the shoe, including red ones across the middle, a blue one at the forefoot and another blue one at the heel that also includes a small white Swoosh. You’ll also see one white overlay at the ankle featuring a red Nike Swoosh on the lateral side and a cutout Swoosh on the medial side.

A blue lockdown strap covers blue eyelets and white laces. On the white tongue is a blue patch featuring a white Swoosh. Moving along the white ankle padding, you’ll see a red heel tab at the back of the shoe.

The upper sits on a classic white midsole that keeps things looking fresh. The Air unit is the heel is designated with the word “Air” in blue on the lateral side — just so everyone knows what you’re packing. Finally, the blue and white rubber outsole adds plenty of traction for kids who like to go rough at recess.

While these shoes are named after the turf, it’s probably best if you wear them for show only. Help your little one stand out in a crowd by pairing them with other casual gear, like tailored joggers and a branded hoodie.
