The Nike Dunk Low “White/Metallic Red Bronze” grade school girls’ shoe drops April 7 at Hibbett | City Gear.
We’ve seen the Nike Dunk rebooted dozens of times these past few years, so it’s not surprising to see yet another new version of the original Peter Moore design dropping soon. What is unique is that this one is for girls only. The Nike Dunk Low in white and pink might not be a shocking color combo considering the audience, but it’s still nice to see Nike catering to the oft-forgotten female population.
The design is pretty simple, with an all-white leather upper. Even the typical overlays at the toe, heel and ankle are white, though it’s a slightly different shade you might have to squint to notice. A white midsole and outsole with a signature traction pattern also meld together.
White laces blend into the white tongue, ankle padding and insoles.
There is a white Swoosh with Nike branding on the tongue, but it’s really hard to see because of the monochromatic design. The embroidered “Nike” on the heel is a little more noticeable because of the thread’s texture.
At this point, you might be wondering—where is the color in this shoe? The only non-white splotch is the big Swoosh across the middle, which stands out in a muted pink. It’s a nice highlight, but leaves a little something to be desired. Fans of keeping their shoes crisp and clean might love these kicks, but for those who wanted to try them out at the skatepark, they might not be the best choice. A single scuff would mar the otherwise milky surface.
With that in mind, we recommend pairing these kicks with something simple. Go for darker colored leggings and an oversized hoodie for a casual look. Or, your little one could throw them on with navy joggers and a sweatshirt tied around their waist.
In 36 years, the Nike Dunk has gone from basketball shoe to skate shoe to casual kick. Now, your little one can join in the fun with the new Nike Dunk Low in white and pink. Shop for it in grade school girls’ sizes starting April 7, online and at your local Hibbett | City Gear.
