Sneakers Release – Jordan 7 Retro SE “Shimmer/Black/Sapphire” Men’s Shoe Launching 4/16

The Jordan Retro 7 in Shimmer, black and Sapphire drops in men’s sizes April 16 at Hibbett | City Gear.

Thirty years ago, a star was born in the form of the Air Jordan 7. To celebrate the big 3-0, Jordan Brand is releasing a new colorway of this Tinker Hatfield design fit for royalty.

The nubuck leather upper of this shoe is a beige color called Shimmer, and it runs along the toe box, laces and heel. Monochromatic overlays add some visual contrast without overwhelming the eye. At the middle and ankle, you’ll notice translucent mesh panels in the same color, with shades of purple and pink peeking out from underneath.

A Sapphire tongue with a pearlescent finish shines in the light, featuring ventilation holes toward the forefoot. The words “Jordan Air” appear on the tongue as well in white and black. For an even brighter pop of color, the back of the tongue is pink to match the similarly toned insole, which features white Nike Air branding.

As for other branding, you’ll see a black Jumpman on the lateral mesh ankle. On the medial ankle, that same Jumpman is there, but covered by the mesh instead for an understated look. Beneath the black heel tab on the back, you’ll see a white “23” on a Sapphire and black triangle.

A gray speckled midsole helps to support the shoe, along with a solid gray toe bumper. Underfoot, the semi-translucent Shimmer outsole features jagged patches of Sapphire, black, white and pink, along with a pink Jumpman on the heel.

Even though MJ wore the Jordan 7 when he clinched his second-straight NBA championship, we probably wouldn’t recommend this as a game-time shoe today. Instead, kick back and relax with matching Sapphire sweats. Or, keep things light with crew socks and your favorite pair of basketball shorts.
