The Nike N7 2022 Collection features a Kyrie Low 5 N7 men’s basketball shoe, Nike Air Max 95 N7 unisex shoe and a Nike Free Crater Trail Moc N7 unisex shoe. The collection drops June 21 at Hibbett | City Gear.
Since 2009, Nike’s N7 initiative has paid tribute to the Native American and Indigenous communities throughout North America. Now, you’ll get the chance to experience three new shoes inspired by berry dyeing and the bright colors of ribbon skirts in the summer 2022 N7 collection.
First up is the Nike Air Max 95 “N7,” which features an upper that’s mostly tan with slightly red blotches—perhaps to mimic the look of fabrics hand-dyed by berries. Multicolor stripes in teal, light green, peach, gray and orange adorn the middle on both the medial and lateral sides. Tan laces sit on a tan tongue that appears to be some kind of burlap. A speckled brown Nike Grind outsole completes the look.
In addition to celebrating Native American heritage, the Nike Free Crater Trail “N7” also plays with style. It’s being released in mule form, meaning the heel is backless. A splotchy tan and pink tie-dyed suede upper is covered by a webbed overlay that expands around the toe box all the way to the ankle. These straps are tan at the toe and forefoot but switch to the same multicolor scheme as the Air Max 95 at the middle. A speckled tan Nike Grind outsole is a sign of this shoe’s sustainability.
It’s no surprise to see an N7 variant of the Nike Kyrie Low 5, as Irving has ties to the Standing Rock Sioux tribe. This shoe has a nearly all tan upper, broken up only by a teal Swoosh outline along the middle. There’s also a splash of pale yellow on the laces, as well as a tiny yellow Swoosh on the medial forefoot. You’ll see Kyrie’s Lakota name—Hela—in pink on the tongue, along with mountain graphics. The same tan and pink tie-dyed theme is incorporated into the midsole, which sits above a cream outsole.
This N7 collection covers nearly all types of wear—including casual and basketball—so you have lots of ways to style them. We’d like to imagine you pairing the more casual shoes with other earthy, natural tones, like khakis or brown acid-washed jeans. For the more athletic shoes, basketball shorts or joggers in light pink or olive could contrast nicely with the designs of the shoes.
