Sneakers Release – Nike N7 Dunk Low, Kyrie 4 Low and Air Zoom-Type Men’s Shoes Out June 21

Jun 14, 2021

Since its inception in 2009, the Nike N7 Fund has actively supported the Native American and Indigenous communities in North America, donating more than $8 million in grants to over 270 organizations and communities. One of the most anticipated N7 events of the year is the release of the N7 Summer Collection, which features special edition N7 footwear and apparel inspired by Native American designs, artwork and culture.

This year, the N7 Summer Collection consists of three statement sneakers inspired by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, the Cheyenne River Lakota Nation and the Onondaga Nation, the ancestral tribes of star athletes Kyrie Irving, Lauren Schad and Lyle Thompson. The “Dark Raisin/Off Noir/Wheat” Nike Dunk Low, “Off Noir/Desert Sand/White” Nike Air Zoom Type and Kyrie Low 4 “Desert Sand/Citron Pulse/Bright Mango launch on June 21 in men’s sizes.

The N7 Nike Dunk Low is inspired by lacosse player Lyle Thompson’s Haudenosaunee ancestors. The N7 colorway takes things to the next level with a Dark Raisin suede upper, which represents the national flag of the Iroquois Confederacy and wampum art.

The traditional Swoosh on the side is made of braided black leather that curls around the heel, representative of the traditional hairstyle worn by Lyle and other legendary Indigenous athletes. The toe box and heel are filled with embroidered white angular patterns that are so intricate, they appear hand-stitched.

Lauren Schad, professional volleyball play for Nantes, France, helped bring the Summer N7 Nike Air Zoom Type to life. Characterized by the colors of the medicine wheel, this dynamic runnig shoe comes with a black suede upper that features a tan lace guard and heel accents. Along the side, the trademark Swoosh is made of creamy leather and outlined in a black, red, yellow and white embroidered pattern, which draws inspiration from porcupine quill art from the Cheyenne River Lakota Nation. The “N7” logo on the black leather tongue showcases commitment to giving back.

The low-top N7 Kyrie 4 features a vibrant design that pays homage to Kyrie’s Native American heritage. The Brooklyn Nets star has ties to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and his Lakota name “Hela” means “Small Mountain.” The white upper is offset with colorful graphics remincient of the star quilt he was honored with at his Lakota naming ceremony, and a bright, yellow Swoosh. The heel features the text “Hungry” and “Humble” above the top of the outsole around the heel that reads “His Legacy Is Going to Live On Forever” – a tribute to the late Kobe Bryant.
