Paul George is a force to be reckoned with, and so is his latest shoe release. Get the latest version of these kicks, the PG4 “Digi-Camo” in a colorway of Light Cream, Total Orange and Terra Blush, releasing in men’s sizes on June 12.

Designed in collaboration with Nike basketball designer Tony Hardman, on-court performance was a top priority. These shoes come equipped with a unique new cushioning system. They also reveal insight into George’s off-court style — his interest in gaming (PlayStation) and his love of his hometown and fishing.

An asymmetrical shroud overlays a neoprene/nylon bootie. The lateral side of the upper is splashed with a digitized camouflage graphic in a mix of light orange, beige and black while a bright orange grid-textured Swoosh overlays it. Blue details on the Dubray, forefoot panel and the midsole contrast with a bright orange zipper pull tab, heel loop, collar trim and sock liner.

The medial side is comprised of a textile mesh that serves as the connecting side of the zippered shroud. Hints of blue and cream peek through. A bright orange Swoosh commands attention, while signature logos make appearances on the Dubray, tongue and footbed. The zippered closure overlaps an internal bungee-cabled speed lace system. The result is supportive and secure containment, excellent breathability, and easy exit and entry.

Insider tip: When the shroud is unzipped, you can see a range of combinations the laces add. Two lace holes near the shoe’s collar allow laces to be worn on the inside or outside of the shroud. You can also wear them unzipped. The basketball star likes to wear his on the outside. The unique tooling on the PG 4 consists of several components that reduce shock, distribute pressure, bolster comfort and protect feet, ankles and knees from impact. It starts with a thick Ortholite insole. Next up is an ultra-light Air Strobel made of multiple connected Air units that run the full length of the midsole.

A midfoot TPU plate increases foot protection and stability. A Nike Phylon foam midsole, with a subtle texture of “link icons” on its surface, also has a cored-out section at the heel. This allows the airbag to compress to provide better responsiveness and feedback underfoot. Players who like to not only feel but also see the magic of their ride will find a window to their shoe’s inner “soul” — the Air unit — via a circular cutout on the exterior of the rubber outsole at the heel. A circular traction pattern on the forefoot provides multidirectional grip and control.
