Giannis Antetokounmpo always stays light on his feet, and this season “The Greek Freak” is releasing his signature Zoom Freak 2 in a colorway guaranteed to put a spring in anyone’s step.

Vibrant colors and swirling patterns dress the Nike Zoom Freak 2 “Bright Mango” sneaker mixing with jolting notes of Volt and Red Plum. The men’s basketball shoes will drop on April 15, in stores and online at Hibbett | City Gear.

Known for his signature Euro Step, a long-lateral move, the Milwaukee Bucks’ power forward included details that speak to his unique brand of controlled speed and power on the paint. Breathable layers of mesh form the upper of these low-top sneakers dressed in that sunny Bright Mango tone, which extends to the laces.

An oversized leather Swoosh arcs along the sides of the shoe in a perfectly Red Plum purple, mirroring the shining satin tongue badge and sock liner. Textural Volt green TPU shapes nestle around the Swoosh. Meanwhile, a plum overlay along the medial side includes a smaller, Volt-colored Swoosh, providing continuity on both sides of this dynamic package.

While the above details are simple (though bright) in color, the rest of the Zoom Freak 2 goes wild. A multicolor graphic print trims the ankle. Bright Mango synthetic overlays with relief-map-style outlines dress the shoe’s sides. And while a dark plum foam midsole breaks up the frenetic upper pattern, a storm of marbled purple and mango swirls along the outsole.

Though the colorway is big, brash and fun-loving, the shoe contains some seriously cutting-edge comfort. The Air Zoom set into the soft foam midsole provides the perfect balance of shock absorption and energy return. A midfoot carbon fiber shank plate bisects the full rubber decoupled outsole.

Even with all the noise of this Nike basketball sneaker, the Greek Freak still includes touches of his heritage, from his recognizable Zoom Freak logos to familial touches like the “I Am My Father’s Legacy” and family names incorporated throughout the shoe.
