Sneakers Release – Reebok Kamikaze II “White/Batik Blue” Men’s Basketball Shoe Launching 8/20

Aug 10, 2021

Shawn Kemp was the Seattle Sonics’ superstar player in the ’90s, especially during the 1995-96 season. That was the year he wore his infamous Reebok Kamikaze II sneakers. The squiggly design was both a hit on the court and on the streets, which is why Reebok is still releasing new colorways of this infamous kick today.

One of these new iterations — a white and Batik Blue variant — is hitting stores on August 20 in men’s sizes. It keeps the same bold design that sneakerheads love while slinging up a fresh color combo.

A deep navy blue synthetic nubuck upper has jagged white leather overlays throughout, creating the appearance of lightning bolts raging in a stormy sky. White Reebok logos adorn the tongue and toe box, while you’ll see a Batik Blue logo on the heel. Traditional white laces keep you secured, while a blue tongue tab and white heel tab make it easy to get the shoe on and off.

The EVA midsole blends perfectly with the design from the upper, creating the appearance that the shoe is one cohesive unit. Inside the shoe, Hexalite hexagonal cushioning helps you feel supported and comfortable even after a long day of cheering on your favorite basketball stars. A white rubber outsole underneath gives you traction even in slippery situations.

When designing the OG Kamikaze II, Jonathan Morris’ goal was to create something as unique as Kemp’s game, and he definitely succeeded. The up and down squiggles are reminiscent of the way the Reign Man leaped up to the basket for a dunk. Today, you probably won’t wear these on the court, but they’d look great paired with basketball shorts and a tank on a hot summer day.

The white and Batik Blue Reebok Kamikaze II in men’s sizes is sure to add some color to your closet. Set a reminder to grab yours on August 20 online or at your local Hibbett | City Gear.
