Despite being just 23 years old, point guard Trae Young is one of the best players in the NBA—which is why adidas gave him a signature line just last year. This month, basketball fans and sports-inspired style seekers are poised to see a new entry into Young’s lineup of namesake basketball shoes.

The adidas Trae Young 1 “Carbon/Gum/White” colorway is crisp and fresh with its unique staggered gradient — just what you need to lace up and get in the game with confidence and style. Right away, you’ll notice this basketball shoe combines a mix of gray tones across the mesh upper. The upper starts dark at the heel, practically black, and melts from dark to light moving forward from the back of the shoe all the way to a stark white toe. The colorblocking is separated by a herringbone pattern.

The tongue of the newest adidas Trae Young 1 follows a similar gradient pattern, but the lockdown strap on top is a solid medium gray, as are the laces and tongue tab. The tongue tab also features a capital “A” in light pink.

The performance shoe’s heel tab is also colored in the same gray as the lockdown strap, interrupted by light pink text that reads, “Adidas Basketball, Rayford Trae Young, Signature Series.”

The “Carbon/Gum/White” colorway’s white Lightstrike midsole provides additional texture and visual appeal with its bubbled tri-section design. On the lateral side, you’ll see the adidas trademark Three Stripes in a faint pink. Beneath this, a white herringbone outsole incorporates an additional pink Three Stripes insert. The word “Boost” also appears in pink on the back edge of the heel.
