2021 has been good to fans of the Air Jordan 3. We’ve seen several colorways drop already in men’s sizes, and now, it’s time for the ladies to get in the game. A flirty, feminine “Rust Pink” colorway hits stores on May 28 in women’s sizes and like its most recent predecessors, this style brings new life to the original ’88 design.

While some are comparing this new style with the Aleali May x Air Jordan 6 “Millennial Pink” colorway, there are enough differences to help the shoe stand on its own.

The first thing you’ll notice here is the Rust Pink nubuck upper that gives off a muted femininity. It’s offset with elephant print dabbed with tones of light gray at the toe cap and heel counter. Along the tongue, collar and eyelets are neutral accents in Sail, a pale creamy shade.

What makes the shoe pop is the punch of Crimson in the lower eyelets, bottom heel and Jumpman tongue embroidery. There’s also a bright white midsole that meshes well with the milky outsole. Other than the new, pink hues of this shoe, this Jordan Retro colorway is still the same shoe first designed by Tinker Hatfield. While Michael Jordan and Hatfield collaborated a ton throughout the years, this was the first shoe Hatfield created for His Airness, and it still stands as a true basketball star today.

What makes this shoe so popular that it’s been a retro hit since 1994? The mid-cut height gives you support as you go up for a jump shot, while the visible low-profile Air unit in the heel and forefoot provide cushioning as you land. Don’t forget about the external heel counter that provides even more support as you twist and turn from your defenders.
