Jordan Brand is bringing back some old favorites in 2021, including the Air Jordan 3 Retro “Cool Grey” colorway, first seen in 2007. Dressed in Light Graphite, silver, Orange Peel and Sport Red, this throwback Jordan re-enters the sneakersphere on February 20 in men’s and grade school kids’ sizes.

Genuine and synthetic leathers compose the AJ 3’s upper. Light Graphite leather provides the sneaker’s base color, while various shades of grey add texture and dimension to the design. A darker grey plays along the perforated lacing system, the heel, around the toe and in the crackled elephant print that outlines the toe and heel’s sides.

Hits of Orange Peel punctuate the shoe’s lower eyelets and upper eyestays, providing a bright contrast to the sneaker’s otherwise neutral palette. Sport Red Jumpman branding on the insole mimics the Jumpman embroidered on the “Cool Grey” Jordan 3’s tongue tag, heel and Jordan branding on the outsole. A glimpse of that same red appears in the heel’s visible Air-Sole unit.

The basketball shoe’s foam midsole, along with an additional Air-Sole unit encapsulated in the forefoot, provides wearers with cushioned comfort and time-tested energy return suitable for day-long wear or gameplay. Underfoot traction comes by way of a series of concentric circles at the shoe’s pivot point, along with strategically placed rubber for quick stops and starts.

This third iteration of the Jordan sneaker collection has been marked by many firsts for the brand. It made its debut in 1988 and was the first designed by Tinker Hatfield, who would go on to mastermind many of MJ’s most iconic sneakers. The AJ 3 was also the first shoe to feature line’s signature elephant print as well as the Jordan sneaker to incorporate visible Nike Air tech.
