There have been Nike Dunk Low colorways dropping left and right this year and another barrage of Nike Dunk Low releases is headed our way! These three new sneakers look just as fresh as the others we’ve seen so far in 2021. Two styles will be available in women’s sizes – the Nike Dunk Low “Purple Pulse” and “Yellow Strike” – which launch on August 18 alongside a men’s “University Red” colorway dropping the same day.
Other than the color difference, “Purple Pulse” and “Yellow Strike” are very similar in style and substance. Both feature a white leather upper with a pale acid-wash finishing on the toe, heel and lace guard overlays. A bright burst of color shows up on the suede Swoosh, as well as the Nike embroidery on the heel.
“Yellow Strike” comes with a tan outsole that doesn’t quite match the vibrant yellow of the rest of the shoe. “Purple Pulse,” on the other hand, has a beautiful lilac outsole that melds better with the overall aesthetic. Perhaps the most interesting thing about these shoes is that the laces change color when exposed to sunlight. As if the shoes weren’t cool enough on their own. With that in mind, we recommend pairing these ’80s-inspired lifestyle shoes with an equally bold pair of joggers and a T-shirt (maybe a tie-dye tee?) when you’re headed out on errands.
The “University Red” colorway for men shakes things up a bit. Rather than the traditional white upper, it features a bright red backdrop, inspired by St. John’s team colors. A matching red outsole looks fierce as you tread the streets. White leather overlays cover the toe and heel, and the traditional middle Swoosh also glows in white.
But don’t let your eyes deceive you — the shoe is not just red and white. There’s also a dash of Total Orange in the Nike insole branding. Naturally, fans of St. John’s can wear these shoes to the big game, but even those outside of New York will love the way these kicks look with a pair of jeans.
Purple, yellow and red make quite the comeback in the “Purple Pulse” and “Yellow Strike” for women and the “University Red” colorway for men. Get your hands on these Dunks on August 18.
