Sneakers Release – Nike Kyrie Low 3 “Eclipse” Men’s Basketball Shoe

Aug 11, 2020

Brooklyn Nets Point Guard Kyrie Irving is best known for dominating on the court with an explosive step, fluid playing style and spectacular scoring ability. Since joining an elite class of basketball players with their own signature kicks, Kyrie has brought that same energy to his sneaker collection.

On August 14, Nike unleashes a new iteration of the Kyrie 3 in a men’s low-cut silhouette bathed in a white and black “Eclipse” colorway.

Working with the Nike design team, the NBA superstar wanted to ensure that his third signature shoe would deliver dynamic traction, razor-sharp cuts and top-level court response. Mr. 4th Quarter also added fit to the top of his list of performance tech priorities. Building on the Kyrie 2’s characteristic midfoot strap, the Nike design team created an internal support system of Flywire: ultralight, super-strong fibers that simulate support cables. A forefoot band paired with laces locks the foot down.

Designers also brought the Hyperfuse composite system over from Kyrie’s first shoe to create the external upper. The technology involves using heat and pressure to fuse three layers of synthetic material. The result is a nearly seamless mesh-based upper with visible Flywire reinforcement, fuse on the high wear areas and a spiky Kurim overlay to reduce abrasion. It’s remarkably breathable, resilient and supportive.

A large Swoosh logo commands the lateral side panel, and smaller ones appear on the medial ankle and sole. Uncle Drew’s logos stand out on the outside of the upper tongue, while his signature, surrounded by the names of his daughter and mother, is stamped on the outsole’s heel. A lightweight Phylon midsole and an internal shank combine for torsional support, and an internal heel counter keeps feet locked in place. Zoom units reside in the forefoot and heel, providing low profile cushioning. The cutting-edge kicks are also uniquely designed with traction that wraps from the outsole up the forefoot’s sidewall, allowing grip and play at several angles. Combined with independent suspension pods, the design boosts smooth, lateral moves and supplies a powerful low court feel.
