Put Your Own Shoes On Day? Yes, It’s a Thing!

Dec 6, 2021

Know how you’re always telling your younger kids to put on their own shoes? Turns out there’s a national day for that. Yes, really. December 6 is “Put on Your Own Shoes Day” — a day dedicated to celebrating putting your shoes on yourself, proving that we’ll use just about any excuse to celebrate something

With that in mind, today is the perfect day to teach your toddlers the difference between their right and left feet, your preschoolers how to tie their laces or to tell your pre-teens that it’s ok to wear more than just Crocs every now and then.

Whether your kids are just learning to put on their shoes or they’ve become pros at rocking all types of kicks celebrate national “Put Your Own Shoes On Day” with these must-have kids’ sneakers, reasonably priced below $100!

Merry Swooshmas

No one can refuse to wear a shoe as iconic as the Air-cushioned Air Max 90 or Air Max 2021. Or celebrate Swooshmans with a signature sneaker from Kyrie Irving, perfect for budding ballers and hoops heroes. Got a little one with an old soul? They are sure to find lots to love about the heritage styling of the Nike Waffle One, but let’s be honest: any Nike shoe would make a great celebratory gift for Put You Own Shoes On day.

All Day I Dream About Shoes

While the Three Stripes actually got its moniker from founder Adi Dassler, we say what better way to co-opt the adidas name than giving it a sneaker-centric acronym? Wrap up a pair of the classic adidas Multix or the comic-book graphic style of Donovan Mitchell’s signature sneaks this holiday season. Your kids will thank you.

Jump Around with the Jumpman

What better way for kids of all ages to kick off the new year than with a fresh pair of Air Jordans? Even the smallest ballers can jump-start their Jumpman collection with a pair of Jordan 1 Retros or Jordan Max Aura 3s.

Red-Nosed Reindeer & Colorful Crocs

Want to set those kiddos up for success during “Put on Your Own Shoes Day?” Give them something they can slip into. Choose a classic Crocs clog in navy, purple, pink or white, or get them a holiday-friendly fur-lined pair. No laces or straps means these kids’ shoes are a win-win for the littlest ones on your shopping list

Toys & Timberlands

The elves are busy at work cobbling pairs of kids’-sized Timberland boots. They’ll look adorbs in a classic wheat-colored boot or an anything-but-basic black field boot.

If anything, use “Put on Your Own Shoes Day” as a jumping-off point to teach your kids how to …. put on their own shoes — or master lacing them up.
